I'm trying to get familar with using the tool kit but running into security issues. I'm only able to logon to the VC, not the ESX server itself- any ideas ?

In addition one I logon to the VC and try to execute any command I'm unable to do so. see screenshot attached

I'm afraid the screenshot is missing from your post.

Does the account you use on the Get-VIServer cmdlet has the required privileges ?
