create linux vm, clone to template, clone othe vm's from it (vmware-tools not running on clones)

I built a cent 6.3 vm and then installed and started vmware-tools, Then I  cloned it to a template. When I clone and start other vm's from that template

vmware tools is not running, the directory where I installed the original tools tarball, unpacked, and started it from looks the same, etc,

but why are the vmware-tools  not starting., it's cloned from a machine where they were installed and started ?

I have no clue why this happens with CentOS (it doesn't with SLES).

Afaik, you just need to rerun the VMware Tools configuration script

/usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl

rerun it when, after the vm comes up in a seperate script, or with invoke-VMscript.

Thanks for your help....
