Hi,

i need connect a usb key for my vmwar virtual machine

I have my virtual machine on a Blade LS22 in a Blade H server. I set USB controllerin settings of my vm by VMWare Sphere 4.0.

Afaik you can't connect USB devices to a VM running on ESX 4. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

You could make an RDP connection to the guest and then use RDP to map the USB device from your machine to be visible in the guest.

You can't map USB devices to VMs via RDP. The Only way is to buy some kind of USBanywhere hub and connect it that way.

I did it with a cheap 45$ model and it worked fine.

I can choose that option but was never able to see my usb stick at a virtual maschine. It runs fine on physical servers though.

Then you might want to have a look at this.

There seem to be some limitations though.

Besides the AnywhereUSB we also use the Keyspan USB Device Server US-4A. The advantage of the Keyspan is that you can connect every USB device to a different VM.

I tested this cheap USB over IP hub and was also able to connect different USB devices to different VMs.
