Virtual Center DB Cleanup

Using VC 2.5 u5

VC database keeps on collecting tasks/event notifications and database size is growing day by day. Can these be exported and kept somewhere else (like csv or a parallel sql server) for audit/regulatory purposes ? Any advice

The Datatbase will clear up this information itself as time goes by. How long have you been monitoring this for?

If it is keeping old records, then you have made a non standard config change.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .

@bulletprooffool:

this is not correct (unless you are on VC4 and have a DB retention policy defined).

see http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100012...

"VirtualCenter Server stores task, event, and performance data in the VirtualCenter database. Over time, data collection results in growth of the database files and a mechanism is needed to shrink these files. Although there is no feature in the product itself to purge or shrink old records from the database, it is possible to do so manually. "
