Hi Team,
Recently i tried to update VM tool version for windows server from version 11297 to 11365.
What happen was, all the nic card setting has been wipe out.
From static it was changed to DHCP.
Even manually i add the ip, the nic card was not working.
Then i need to remove completely the nic card and re-add, and re-add the ip, then the vm responded to network.
Below is the command which i used to update the vm tool:
Get-VM "VM" | Update-Tools | Restart-VM
Do you also see the issue when starting the upgrade via the Web Client.
Seeing the issue is intermittent, that will of course be hard to deduce I guess.

Although the update of the VMware Tools was initiated via a PowerCLI cmdlet, I don't think this is a PowerCLI issue.
There have been mentions before of a VMware Tools update erasing NIC settings.
See for example Solved: Automatic Tools upgrades on 2016 servers causing n... - VMware Technology Network VMTN
Unfortunately, VMware and MSFT are pointing at each other for this issue.
See also the KB mentioned in above post.

i saw the KB and its look like a old KB.
Recent activity has been done on windows 2019.
only few VM affected, the rest found no issue.
is that i miss out something when running the command to update the vmtools.
