VM guest reboot count

Hi All

there any function to get guest reboot count ?

I assume you mean the restarting of the guest OS, and not a poweroff/poweron of the VM itself ?

If yes, you would need to query the guest OS itself to find these.

For example, on a Windows OS you can query the system eventlog and look for events with ID 12 (start up) and 13 (shut down).

I create a virtual machine from ISO WIN2K8R2,

In the middle of the installation have reboot,


I want to know when the Reset Happening.

Ok, that is a special situation.

Did you already check the installation logs ? See here for locations.

I don't what to monitor the OS, i want to monitor the vcenter "when the Guest is restart".

Afaik, unless the guest reboot is initiated from vSphere client or Web client, I don't think there is any logging on the vSphere level.

That is why I advised to check the eventlogs or the installation logs
