VM Object Name and DNS name are different, need to bring consistancy

we got 02 production vcenter and the vms residng on them (In different clusters) are having VM object name different and its DNS name is different. we need to rename the object name with the dns name. we can rename it. but the files inside wont rename. only option vmware mentions is to svmotion. we got a problem here. we have only 1 SAN storage and dont have any other datastore. we cant power off the vms also. is there any way to rename them?

But the VM needs to be powered off for that.

So with your restrictions, no there is no method to rename the VM's Displayname and the VM's files.
