First thing I noticed is that i need to change all my scripts to use connect-viserver rather than get-viserver

Funny, the download section does not yet link to this release, nor have I seen any announcement of it.
It does want me to uninstall the beta release before installing this version.
Thanks for the link.
hugopeeters, that's because it has not been released yet. Read Eric Sloof's post, he explains.

Eric's post contains the download link but on the Vmware page it says
25/07/08 as release date.
Did he assume users would wait if they saw the date?
Apparently the same for Eric's announcement of the contest ("Who's the
best PowerShell scripter?").
A link but no access to the page yet.
Since access to the communities is again terrible since a few days it's
hard to follow at the moment over here.

Eric shouldn't have posted the links in the first place.
There's a reason for official release announcements...
Hard to follow indeed. I was franticly refreshing my RSS feeds waiting for an official announcement. I totally missed the date you're talking about.
Anyway, we'll have to be a little patient then. I'm really hoping the contest is open for participants outside of the USA, in which case I am definately entering! Gotta love scripting with Powershell; and Powershell x VMware = (love)^2
Hi All,
Yes, the official GA build is available (build 103777) but not linked from any of our other web pages. Basically the landing pages aren't ready to go yet and are planned for tomorrow. That's also why we don't have any official word on it, haven't updated the FAQ, etc.
As pointed out, get-viserver is replaced with connect-viserver (and also notice that there's a disconnect-viserver). Over the next weeks we'll be talking a lot on the blog about the new features and some of the reasons behind them, so stay tuned.
@ oreeh
I accidently discovered the link last Wednesday and contacted VMware right after that. I wasn't planning to publish it until the official announcement or until someone else would was going to post it. Since it's not very hard to reconstruct a download URL the last thing happened. So it wasn't a secret anymore and I changed the publication date of my post. The news about the download isn't pickup up by other bloggers so let us scripters enjoy the pre-release. For all of you who are going on vacation, have a nice one and don't even try to think about a winning script when you're on the beach.
See you in Vegas,
Eric Sloof
Eric,
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, pretty hard to keep secrets in this day and age
"Tomorrow" is nearly finished in our timezone

I think it is safe to assume the timezone used for this computation would be the one in which VMware's corp office is located. They are GMT-8!

Well, the people over at the VMware web development department are nearly ready (and doing a great job), this link is official http://www.vmware.com/communities/content/developer/sdks/
Getting some of the text fixed, but download away!
Congratulations for the official birth of this great tool!
