We have just upgraded our vcenter and esx hosts to vshpere . We howevere have over 50 virtual machine in a cluster that need vmware tool upgrading . I will like to run a script to do a schudled task to upgrade this on a night time ...????

If you are running Windows VM's you can use this nifty little tool ---> http://www.robware.net/
you select the VM's you wish to upgrade VMwaretools on and click upgrade, and Bob's your uncle!

Correct, but with RVtools I get to see the results, instead of coming in the next day only to findout some updated and others didn't for whatever reason. Just my two cents.
Both, is in my opinion the best way.
Use the Update Manager snapin to determine which guests need an upgarde and schedule the upgrade tasks.
Can the upgrade reboot the guests ?
