Script to resolve VMTools update in 5.0 update

Recently we have migrated our Corp Envirnoment from vSphere 4.1 to vSphere 5.  When it was time to upgrade VMTools we were getting an error:

Update Tools failed. Edit the virtual machine's vmx file, add the  line below and try again. Please read KB article 1714 on tips for  editing a vmx file.

isolation.tools.guestInitiatedUpgrade.disable = "FALSE"

I was wondering if anyone has a PowerCLI script to make the change to the VM Config Params without powering down the VM itself.  We still have our Meditech env (70 vms) to upgrade to 5.0 so i would love to do it without reboots.

many thanks

Ryan

To change or add VMX entries see Retrieve and Set VM Advanced Configuration (VMX) settings

I'm not sure if the new parameter will be active without a poweroff/poweron of the VM
