'RetrieveProductComponents' vsphere API is failing with "Internal error" on ESXi 4

The 'RetrieveProductComponents' vsphere API seems to be failing with "Internal error" message everytime is is run against an ESX 4i server.The same API executes without any problem on ESX 3.5i.

Any help much appreciated.

I can confirm what you're seeing.

Seems to be a bug.

I see this exception message:

Exception calling "RetrieveProductComponents" with "0" argument(s): "The operation is not supported on the object."

Can someone from VMW care to comment ?

I too am facing the same issue.

Could this really be a bug? Cause if it is then why hasn't someone noticed this before. Can someone from vmware team comment.

Hi,

The error is thrown by the esxi server. We'll try to contact esx API team for help and let you known for solution/workaround if available.
