Rename Datastores from data provided from a plugin.

Greetings

We have a situation where we need to rename a few hundred datastores to reflect the LUN-ID as part of the datastores name. The storage system in question is an EMC VMAX3. EMC provides the "EMC VSI Plugin" which allows (from the vCenter web client) for us to marry up the datastore to the LUN-ID. Note that we cannot tell which LUN-ID is which in the vCenter client without the plugin as the data isn't shown and in the end this is the purpose of the plug-in. As expected it takes about 0.2ms for the plugin to retrieve the data from the SAN (we can see this in the plugin's logs) and then takes no less than 5 minutes for the vCenter web client to display it.

Is it possible from the PowerCLI to somehow get the data from the plugin so that we can automate the renaming process of the datastores?

With the use of the below function I can see that the plugin is visible from PowerCLI but is it possible to address it somehow?

EMC VSI Plugin                com.emc.vsi.plugin                                          6.7.1.77

I am using the latest version of PowerCLI and we are using vCenter 5.5 U2b.

Thank you very much.

Doesn't the EMC Storage Integrator Suite contain PowerShell cmdlets to provide this functionality ?

Not sure if that points to the latest release, but your EMC SE should be to tell you that
