Hello,
Can i use Power CLI scripts to convert an existing VMs created using Workstation to ESXi ? any suggestions.
Thanks
Ram
You could do this with a V2V in the Converter.
You can find a sample in my Automating Converter Enterprise jobs with PS post.
Depending on the Converter version you are using the script could need some tweaking.

Hi Luc
Thanks for the reply. Can this be done with standalone converter which is free or only with enterprise version?
Thank you
Ram
Hi Lucd,
What version of converter is your example referring to? I download vcenter converter by installing the evaluation copy for VMware cCenter 4.1 and I don’t see Converter-tool as mentioned in your discussion below. Please let me know if there is any other place that I can download the version that has the Converter-tool ?.
Thanks
Ram
That post was done based on the Converter that came with vCenter 4.0.
The Converter that comes with vCenter 4.1 indeed doesn't have the Converter-tool anymore.
Time to review that post I assume 🙂
Fyi, you can still download vCenter 4.0 if you have a registered license.

I did use the combination of SSH and vCLI commands to get through this.
Thanks
