PowerCLI Installs - I am confused

I had VMware-PowerCLI-5.5.0-1295336.exe installed and looked for some updates

I found VMware-PowerCLI-Tenant-5.8.0-2057893.exe however after installing this, it only supported the vCloud Commandlets!

We have vCloud installed 5.5.1 and the underlying vCenter.

I would have thought that if anything, it would have been vCenter.

>> So does someone know what the latest powercli's are ?

>> And why is "tenant == vCloud" ?

Thanks

The latest version is indeed PowerCLI 5.8 R1 (build 2057893).

The "tenant" pssnapin is a limited set of cmdlets specifically for tenants.

See the Overview on vCloud Director PowerCLI

Not sure what you mean with the 2nd question

The latest is VMware-PowerCLI-5.8.0-2057893.

According to the PowerCLI manual, I think in PowerCLI, it support interoperability between vSphere PowerCLI and vCloud Director PowerCLI.

So when you install PowerCLI, there is a option whether you need install the module for vCloud Director PowerCLI (default not).

If you installed only supported the vCloud commandlets, it means maybe the other part.

There are different command groups to support different products.
