Migration VM with physical RDM to HCI

Hello,

I think this is a common problem.

I change from traditional storage to HCI Dell VXRail P570. However, HCI doesn't have FC environment while I currently have some clusters with shared RDM: Oracle RAC, MS Lync, MS SQL on an external FC SAN storage system.

What should I do to migrate the VM to VXRail P570? I think about change from physical RDM to virtual RDM but not sure application cluster such as: Oracle RAC or MS SQL is consistency later.

Do anyone have real cases for this matter?

Thank you.

You didn't specify which HCI solution you will introduce.

Most HCI solutions will offer a method/procedure to provide sharing and SCSI-3 persistent reservations.

You will have to talk with your HCI provider.

I find dell documents but there is not a lot reference relate this topic. What I get is the application cluster is MS Lync.

I'm afraid I have no practical experience with RDM on HCI, but KB54461I seems to indicate that you need the vSAN iSCSI Target Service.

I would suggest to ask more information in the VSAN community.
