Is there such a thing as PowerCLI to Virtual HW Version compatibility.

I've tried the Vmware product interoperability matrix, and other searches, and haven't been able t come up with anything yet.

Is there any compatibility or interoperability relationships between versions of PowerCLI and Virtual Hardware versions, or are things pretty universal?

Hi, here is the link to PowerCLI compatibly matrix: https://developer.vmware.com/docs/15745/  for the latest released PowerCLI . Check this section - " Interopability with VMware Solutions", if that could help you.

If you mean the relation between the PowerCLI version and the natively supported HW versions, no there isn't.

PowerCLI mostly trails behind a bit and it is often waiting for an update before a new Hardware version is natively supported, for example on the Set-VM HardwareVersion parameter.

You can of course always use the UpgradeVM method, like in Re: upgrade vm hardware version to 19 powercli doe... - VMware Technology Network VMTN
