How to manual quiesce (freeze) guest OS via Vmware Cli?

Hi all.

Is there any way to quiesce guest OS via Vmware (or VDR) Cli?

In guides i see how to suspend and make snapshot, but i want manually freeze and thaw OS.

Would the Suspend-VM or Suspend-VMGuest cmdlets do what you are after ?

Otherwise you will need to elaborate a bit on what exactly you are trying to do.

As i understand, backup creation divides into three stages: quiescing guest OS, making backup, and thawing guest OS.

And i want to quiescing guest OS manually (e.g., for creating custom backup).

Is it possible?

Isn't the backup only quiescing the IO, not the complete OS ?
