Export/Import Distributed Virtual Switch

Hello all...

Yesterday I have installed my vCenter from scratch... fresh start with a new database.

I've used a powerCLI Script to import all the configuration from the VC except the DVS.

Just after that I finish to install every thing and the ESX hosts were back in the VC, I found out that they still have the DVS that I configured with the old VC.

The only way to work it around was the create a new DVS and then to look at the ESX host that still showing the old Port Group and the old DVS (connect direct with the VIClient to the ESX host and not to the VC), and then just switch to the new Port Group in the new DVS.

This took a very long time and very risky move.

And my question is - there is a other way to do it? there is a script that done this? a workaround that VMWARE recommended on?

I hope that my explanation was understood...

Thanks For the HELP!!!

Hi,

You can check the PowerCLI 4.1 vDS support in this blog post. You can also look at Luc's nice articles about dvSwitch scripting.
