Copying machine folder and inventory contents?

I am in the process of building a new replacement for my current vCenter server.  I am currently running 4.0 u1, but will be building the new VC at 4.1.  Once the new VC is built I plan to move the hosts to the new server.  I need away to export all of my machine folders and list of VMs that they contain, and then create the folders on the new VC, and place the VMs back in the machine folder they belong.  Is there a way to do this using powercli?
