Configure vSphere Replication (+ SRM) for VMs with PowerCLI

Hi community!

I've been tasked with mass-configuring replication of our critical VMs to our DR site using vSphere Replication.

Since there is no way I'm going to do this for ~250 VMs, I was wondering if anyone written/found a script that takes a VM, configures VR to it and adds it to a Protection Group for SRM ?

This will be terribly helpful.

Thanks!

Mark did a post on that a while back, see Wednesday Tidbit: Protect a VM using SRM and PowerCLI

Hi Luc,

I came across that post-

Sadly, it only covers one part of the equation: adding the VM to a Protection Group.

It doesn't cover the vSphere Replication configuration for the VM.

Then you might want to have a look at Ben's SRM-cmdlets module.
His New-ProtectionGroup and Protect-VM functions might help.

Saw Ben's cmdlets as well.

Same issue, he also states :

For vSphere Replication based protection, the VMs to add to the replication
group. These should already be replicated.

Then I'm afraid you will have to dive into the API yourself.

Hello tinchito7,

have you managed to configure replication from a script?

I have you same problem and I'm surprised that there is no a simple solution for this.
