Hi All,
Can set alarm from power cli to send report for Data store running out space below threshold ? We have vc 5.5. and vSphere VMFS 5.0 and its seems bug, data store alarm doesn't work.
Kindly let me know whether we can set alarm. Something like dashboard report looking on a daily basis.
thanks
vmk
Which alarm and which bug are you referring to?

LucD,
Its vmfs 5.0 bug as per VMware vendor that it will fail to trigger the alarm even if the data store space run out of space. We have seen cases like Data store is 0 MB and no alarm triggered.
Hence, wanted to run script with threshold like 85 % and it will send the report that data store is having 15 % free space.
thanks
vmk
What I mean is, which alarm are you referring to?
The definition of that alarm?

Hi LucD,
Alarm or report, i'm looking for
1)Alarm - Host connection failure or Not responding
2)Alarm 'Host connection and power state' on
3)Data store usage on disk
4) CPU
5) Memory
6) Network
7) License
Thanks
vmk
I'm confused now, what exactly do you want?
This thread started with an alarm for low free space on datastore, which yoiu said didn't work due to a bug.
Which alarm are you referring to?

LucD,
My apologies. I'm looking for data store alarm. It will be good if you can include host status etc. otherwise i'm looking specific to data store alarm.
thanks
vmk
I don't have vSphere 5.x anymore because it is not supported anymore.
And I would like to know which alarm and which bug you are referring to when you stated

Hi LucD,
Please find the KB article below.
Example -
esxcli storage vmfs unmap -l Linux_VMAX_3235
thanks
vmk
That KB doesn't mention an alarm, or a bug in an alarm.
Which alarm is not working?
Can you show me the definition of that alarm?
Is that an alarm that comes with vSphere? Or something you defined locally?
