There are multiple layers of ECMP within NSX-T: 

  • ECMP between the DR to SR 
  • ECMP between the SR and the physical networking fabric. 

NSX-T offers an optimal way to load balance the networking traffic within the Data Center.  

We will also present how easy it is to enable ECMP whether you use BGP, OSPF or static routes.

Is it possible (within the cli) to find out which next-hop a certain flow will take (given you know all the values that are used to calculate the hash). Say an equivalent of 'show forwarding-options load-balance' in JUNOS?

This is currently not available in the latest release of NSX-T at the time of writing (3.1.1).





Nice, I guess in slide 17 the 8 way maximum has to do with next hops, not different T0 SRs.

Same thing in slide 18, you may have many neighbors on the same port so limit is 8xNHs ?

Also, it says ECMP is enabled in UI but this seems to be protocol specific, so if you had multiple static routes you would do ECMP w/o having to enable it, right ?

You are correct.


in slide 16 you show 2 edge nodes with 4 paths each, toward the physycal routers.   I was thinking that an edge node can have a max of 2 uplinks, so to have 8 paths I need 4 edge nodes. Am I correct?
