thanks

but 2 question :

1 - i usually set my esxi host manage port on standard switch because maybe vCenter failed or ... i can directly connect to esxi host

now i want to know for use NSX have to migrate my manage port from vss to dvs ?

2 - is that important number of VDS ? maybe i want use just one vds can run nsx on that?

best regards

1. you can still use vswitch standart for esxi management.

2. that depend what you want for this lab. You can use one single VDS, or you can use multiple VDS (ex = VDS for VXLAN, VDS for External).

1. Only can work with VDS.

2. No idea what your talking about.

3. I am going to explain to you about VDS for NSX.

VDS for NSX are use to create portgroup, which is VXLAN. Lets say you lab have 5 host. Each host have only 2 Physical NIC. 1 NIC for Mgmt, 1 NIC for "everything". THose "everything" are bind for NSX, which is create a VTEP.. In this lab, those NIC are use for VXLAN, external connection, L2VPN, etc.

Now let say you have 4 NIC per host. Which much NIC, you can create : 1 for Mgmt ( standart switch ), 1 for VXLAN ( VDS ), 1 for external ( VDS ), 1 for iscsi ( VDS or standart ).

May be go to VMware HOL VMware Learning Platform and go through the NSX labs (HOL-SDC-1603 VMware NSX Introduction). Also, if this is a home lab environment, you can set it up in cloud. Follow my blog here to setup the vSphere 6 env. , at this time i have not yet deployed NSX in my environment but i have seen articles that say it is supported. http://myvirtualbytes.com/home/vsphere-6-home-lab-public-cloud-ravello-systems/
