Dear guy,
Do you know between VMware NSX and CISCO Nexus 1000V, which one is more better?
and these two can integrated with vCloud Director?
thank you for your comments. any comment is valuable.
Hi vivath
As NealeC says Nexus 1000v is not the same thing as VMware NSX, is more accurate if you compare Nexus 1000v with VMware Distributed vSwitch, (apple with apple) Nexus 1000v is a software implementation of the cisco nexus data center switchs solutions, more often nexus 1000v are integrated with cisco ASA 1000v and cisco virtual security gateway for nexus 1000v, all this solutions are based in virtual appliance, don't allow micro segmentation, the appliance are in the data path, if the appliance fail you have an issue, the throughput are limited for the virtual appliance throughput, this solution allow you to create more "classic" security aprox; security zone, etc, this kind of solution are more used in VCE vBlock solution, but VCE has more modern product like VxBlock that replace nexus 1000v/ASAv/VSG for a SDN solution (VMware NSX or Cisco ACI)
So resuming, VMware NSX should be compared with Cisco ACI or other SDN solution, nexus 1000v is the vswitch implementation of cisco and are available for many hypervisor, even with Cisco ACI, if you want virtual micro segmentation you need to replace nexus 1000v for a version of this named cisco AVS (application virtual switch)
Thanks,
Jorge

Vivath, they are fundamentally different products.
Nexus 1000v is a single virtual appliance that operates as a virtual Distributed Switch.
NSX is a full suite of Microsegmentation firewalling, edge firewalling, software defined networking, Distributed routing, overlay networking(VXLAN) and so on and so on.
The comparison of nsx and VCNs is more useful.
I'd suggest reading the product specs/documentation for both as it seems that you're unclear that you are trying to compare to very different things.

Hi NealeC,
Thank you for your comment.
As I know that Nexus 1000V has one module call Virtual Security Gateways that can replace to VMware NSX.
Can it replace NSX?
VSGs and ASA are separate products from Cisco that integrate with Nexus 1000v
Again they aren't the same things as NSX.
Are you trying to compare Cisco's ACI and NSX?
NSX is a full SDN suite, Cisco's ACI is similar but different.
On choosing VMware NSX or Cisco ACI
Ravello have done an article on exactly what you're asking about 1000v vs nsx, but I'm still not convinced there is any kind of direct comparison to be made
