NSX-v.
I’m looking into shares on a vDS and assigning certain values to Mgmt., vMotion, iSCSI etc. I can’t assign the share value to the VXLAN traffic type. Does it use the Virtual Machine Traffic value?
Yes , that is my understanding . I have not tested this with NSX-V. However there is no difference in NSX-T as well. Flexibility is we can create NIOC profile from NSX manager itself and apply it to all transport nodes.
Yes, you can use VM shares for Edge/VXLAN traffic even though i tried to avoid it . If you have server profiles , better option would be to use NIOC+QOS which will guarantee the expected bandwidth.
How would I apply NIOC shares on the VXLAN VTEP traffic on hosts?
I will google the server profiles now, thank you.
Apply it on the respective port-groups like any other shares that we normally apply for virtual machine traffic. You can check https://blogs.vmware.com/networkvirtualization/files/2014/02/VMware-NSX-on-Cisco-N7KUCS-Design-Guide... (Page :11 match with your requirement)
That's great Sreec, thank you.
I was reading https://blogs.vmware.com/networkvirtualization/files/2014/02/VMware-NSX-on-Cisco-N7KUCS-Design-Guide... and I'm interested in the change made on page 24.
You change the network traffic resource pool to the newly created "VXLAN VM Traffic". What if I left it as "default"? What network traffic resource pool would it use? Virtual Machine Traffic?
Yes , that is my understanding . I have not tested this with NSX-V. However there is no difference in NSX-T as well. Flexibility is we can create NIOC profile from NSX manager itself and apply it to all transport nodes.
