From version 3.0 to 3.0.2, my VRF Lite setup was:
- only two segments configured in trunk mode (0-4094) to use on all the VRFs created. Segment #1 have an uplink teaming policy that forces the connection to ToR 1 and segment #2 have an uplink teaming policy that forces the connection to ToR 2.
- On each VRF, i have 4 interfaces (2 per edge node per ToR), where the interfaces that connect to ToR#1 use a specific vlan (e.g VLAN100) and the interfaces that connect to ToR#3 use other specific vlan (e.g VLAN200)
After the upgrade to version 3.1. I start having issues on the interfaces of the VRF, with error messages saying that i can't have the same vlans on both segments, or that the segment's overlap with other vlans that are configured on that transport zone.
To resolve the situation, i had to remove the 0-4094 range from the segments that i create for VRF, and create new vlan ranges like: for ToR#1 vlan 99-100 and for ToR#2 vlan 200-201, but only vlan 100 and 200 are assigned to segments (why those ranges if per vrf i will only use one vlan from each segment?).
My questions for the correct configuration, are:
1 - For each VRF i must create two segments, one per ToR, with a vlan range?
2 - I still can use the same two segments for all the VRF, and assign different vlan ranges (eg. sement A - Vlan 100-199, and segment B - vlan200-299), that don't overlap, and assign one of the vlans on those ranges to the vrf segments?

Yes, create the respective NSX-T vlan segments in trunk mode (be specific with the range of vlans) and in the VRF uplinks allow the access vlan-id which falls under that trunk range while connecting to those segments

But if i create two segments in trunk mode, per ToR, i will only use two vlan's (one per ToR per VRF). Let's see the example #1:
VRF A - segment ToR-A (VLAN 100-101) + segment ToR-B (VLAN 200-201)
VRF B - segment ToR-A (VLAN 300-301) + segment ToR-B (VLAN 400-401)
When i create the interfaces on the each VRF, i will only have one vlan ID assigned per interface. So for VRF A i will use ID 100 and 200. For VRF B, i will use Id 300 and 400. In this example VLAN ID 101,201,301,401 will not be used.
Example #2 - Using the same 2 segments ToR-A + ToR-B, to all the the VRF's created:
segment ToR-A (VLAN 100-101) + segment ToR-B (VLAN 200-201)
In this case:
VRF A - segment ToR-A (VLAN 100) + segment ToR-B (VLAN 200)
VRF B - segment ToR-A (VLAN 101) + segment ToR-B (VLAN 201)
When i create the interfaces on the VRF, i will only have one vlan ID assigned per interface. So for VRF A i will use ID 100 and 200. For VRF B, i will use Id 200 and 201. In this example all the range of VLAN ID 's will be used.
So, It's is also correct use example #2?
