Hi all,
i have one cluster, 4 Esxi i cofigured VDS ans installed NSX, 2 NSX controller and configured a nsx logical switch
but it doesn't work because all the esxi are connected to a standard switch
i tried migrate all the VMS from a standar switch to a DVS but i can't because the connection lost
Any idea for the migration all the VMS , logical adapter and physical adabter without loss the connection
Help me please
Thanks
PS: Sorry for my english
You basically need a working vSwitch (which you have) and a working VDS with active nics (this also needs to work) when you have them both working use the virtual machine networking wizard to move all your VMs from the standard vSwitch to the VDS.
https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010612
But i haven't a free physical adapter for VDS
it's used for standard switch
then when i change netwotrking wizard for VM the connection losts
how many physical nic you have per host?
i have only 2 physical nic
and one vds
2 standard switchs
use nic0 for management and vmotion. Can use vswitch standart.
use nic1 for vxlan and external networkj. Use VDS.
Put nsx controller at portgroup that use nic0.
suggestion : use same subnet as nsx manager for nsx controller for simplyfied network.
Hi
I suggest to migrate all in a single dvs with 2 active nics with nsx prepared. The migration process through standard to distributed must be done with the same physical net but using these 2 avilable nics:
- move all in one vss (pg and vmkernel) (be sure that physical net could accomplish this task otherwise you couldn't go on)
- unconfigure empty vss (one uplink will be available)
- make dvs with available uplink (make sure vlan and mtu are correctly setup)
- migrate vms, portgroup and vmk from vss to dvs
- move nic from vss to dvs
- start config for nsx as described in the official guide.
Some hints:
- use at least 1 vlan for management/vmotion with a separated port group
- use at least 1 vlan for vtep
- use ingress/egress traffic shaping and nioc to take all traffic under control
- use ingress/egress traffic shaping for any vxlan
- depending on physical infrastructure choose the proper failover.

ok then i use vswitch0 and remove vswitch1?
but why the settings for controller cluster Vm are disabled ?
Please could you post a screenshot? Have you migrate all in a single dvs before?
Seems that all hosts doesn't have the same networking configuration... Please check the official guide:
and this is the vds creation guide:
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2 Documentation Center
to build a cluster for nsx you should connect all host to the same dvs (with thei uplinks) or use more than one dvs (if you have any enough uplinks)
when i migrate physica adapters, virtual adapters and VMS the connection is lost
This could happens due some portgroup/vlan misconfiguration... Is mandatory to check physical networking before migrate physical adapter.
Sincerly it's quite hard to understand what is going on your vDatacenter...
I think you shoud re-desing ypur infrastructure with at least one dvs with one or more uplinks. Please check the guides in the previous reply
