Unable to launch NSX 4.1 GUI

Hello Expert,

I have been configuring my testing lab for single NSX 4.1 Manger and installed the OVA successfully.

ESXI and Vcenter version is 6.7

NSX : 4.1

I am able to resolve the hostname and the machine is up and running fine and pingable via IP or hostname from my local machine. However, whenever I tried to launch the GUI it failed as mentioned below. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you deploy it using vcenter? The ova you used is meant for that style of Deployment.

Either case, try ssh'ing on as admin and running get services to see what is running.

Hello,

Thanks for the response.

Yes, I have deployed this OVA via vCenter only. Here are the services:

You have some critical services that aren't running (proton etc), my guess is it didn't deploy correctly.

May be worthwhile redeploying.

Hi Shashank,

I already tried deploying twice but no luck. Am I using the right ISO to deploy? Actually, I first tried to install below image but it won´t gave me the option to select small NSXT manager components. It always ask me to select either medium or large. But, as mentioned this is my testing environment, even medium compute resources are leveraging 24GB of RAM.

That is why I moved to NSX-T manager image with vCenter pulgin where I have the option to deploy with small components.

Try deploying the standard ova without vCenter, it sounds like it may take additional time in your environment due to lack of resources.

Hi Shashank,

Let me try with Advanced version because standard version doesn't have LB features. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Hello,

I tried all the versions of NSX-T 4.1, standard, advanced, enterprise with extra small compute configuration but no luck. It got deployed successfully but won't allow me to connect to web GUI. DNS has been configured successfully, able to resolve hostname.

This is a known issue with 4.1. You'll need to reach out to support to get a modified file to get around the login.jsp page not loading.

Thank You.

What if I try with lower version of NSX-T, will that work?

Hello there,

we are facing the same issue with NSX 4.1. A few minutes ago we did a test on 4.0.1.1 and after manually starting the service 'manager' the GUI is back and accessible. So we did update on the latest 4.1 from this newly installed instance and guess what? It is not accessible again. How does it come that even a newly installed appliance of a product like this does not work?

We have zero trust in this product since the installation part.

Hello,

So, have you downgraded back to 4.0 or did you find the resolution on 4.1?

Hi,

I tried to deploy nsx-unified-appliance-4.0.1.1.0.20598732.ova successfully. However, at the first go I am able to launch the web GUI but the moment I have entered the username and credentials it turned back to the same error.

And when I open the Web Console to login letters randomly go upper case, normally a few upper case characters at a time. This only affects the Web Console, not Remote Console or SSH.

I was unable to launch the GUI of NSX 4.1 in my lab envrionment.

Performed following 2 changes to get the GUI working

1. Modified /etc/hosts with the IP address and hostname followed by restart of networking services

2. Started the Proton service.

Post these 2 steps able to launch NSX 4.1 GUI using https://IPaddressofNSXMgr

So, I uninstall the version 4.0 and redeploy 4.1 with all the DNS and /etc/hosts in place. This time I got the webgui login page only for once but response is very slow.

However, in couple of minutes I got the same error and When tried to login via web console, getting  letters raNDomLY Go uPPEr CAse while typing username and password.
