Static port binding on NSX T distrubuted port group

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to change ephemeral port binding to static port binding on NSX distributed port group (SEGMENT)?

We have NSXT 3.0 installed in the environment. Horizon 7.12 is also installed. However, in order to use instant clones, it is necessary for the port group to be static and not ephemeral, which is the case with us.

The segment from the center shows that the ephemeral port is binding:

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,

Milos

As you mentioned and also described in this blog post: https://www.sneaku.com/2020/04/15/working-with-nsx-t-3-0-and-vds-7-0-duplicate-port-group-names/

VMware NSX-T always use ephemeral port binding when creating NSX-T PortGroups.

NSX-T doc also mentions this: Managing NSX Distributed Virtual Port Groups

The port binding for the segment is by default set to Ephemeral. Switching parameters for the switch that are set in NSX-T cannot be edited in vCenter Server and conversely.

I can't find this port binding settings in NSX-T UI, probably need to check with VMware Support if this can be done in NSX-T via API - NSX-T Data Center REST API - VMware API Explorer - VMware {code}

Hi Bayu,

Thank you very much for your response.

We contacted vmware. This is a bug in NSX-T version 3.0 and will be fixed in the next release.

Best regards,

Milos
