Question on cross vCenter NSX and loss of NSX manager

Can someone help me with this question. I am trying to learn cross vCenter setup more. I know there is an NSX manager at each site, primary and secondary. And the primary site will run the 3-node control VM cluster.

How do the hosts in the clusters at the secondary site get the updates from the control cluster?

Do those sync through the NSX manager? And if so, doesn't that go against the fact that the loss of the NSX manager would only affect the management plane?

Thank you for clarification.

I may have answered my own question. It looks like all the ESXi hosts in the secondary site maintain a connection with the Control cluster VMs on port 1234. I saw that with an esxcli command.
