[Question] - NSX DLR Configuration difference

Hello Gurus,

What is the difference between checking and un-checking the Deploy Edge Appliance while deploying DLR.

When I checked it I wasn't able to connect to Physical uplink in my test Lab stating that can't connect to vlan 0

Basically it will create a Control VM which is a requirement while doing dynamic routing , so by default it will be selected.  If you prefer to stick with static routes, you can un-check the option.

You have to deploy the Control VM during the DLR creation . You cannot add an Edge appliance to the logical router after the logical router is created.

Hello,

Yeh, this option is to create a DLR control VM with the main role is to handle the dynamic routing.

But for DLR, it is not supported to attach their interfaces to VLAN tagged port groups directly connected to the physical environment. For this scenario, you need to deploy an ESG with transit logical switch between ESG and DLR.
