NSX vxlan and cisco vxlan

Hello,

We are planning to implementing VXLANs with NSX with Cisco nexus hardware.

On the documentation of Cisco Line Cards the ones we have (F2) does not support VXLANs.

Does anyone know if Cisco VXLAN is the same as NSX VXLAN or this is different technology with the same name?

Can i use NSX VXLAN where VXLAN is not supported on the hardware?

Hello, you can run VXLANs with NSX on any hardware.

VXLANs on Cisco is for different use case and mainly for physical device, for example you can run MP-BGP EVPN in conjuction with VXLAN that requires hardware that supports VXLAN.

VXLANs on Cisco is controlled by Cisco Hardware while VXLANs on NSX is controlled by NSX Controllers and they don't really exchange VXLAN information.

Its the same technology VXLAN protocol but different use case
