NSX and "Activity Monitoring"

Jump to solution

Hey all,

I am currently busy with testing out the "Activity Monitoring" feature in NSX.

I have enabled "vShield Endpoints / Guest Introspect" on a specific cluster.

I also enabled "Data Collection" on each different Guest VM and VMware Tools are installed.

All my machines in that cluster are running on Linux (Ubuntu).

Now when I do all of this and trying to see ANY output in the (NSX) Activity Monitoring section there is completely no data there.

What am I doing wrong here?

Only Windows VMs can utilize Guest Introspection at the moment. Not working / not supported for Linux (yet).

Hi

I haven't tried this feature yet, but following this guide Monitor security policies with Activity Monitoring and ensure they are being enforced correctly in N... you should wait at least 5 minutes... Which NSX version are you using?

I did wait 5 min. I even waited 24 hours 😉 still nothing.

I am using NSX Manager 6.2.0 at this moment.

This is exactly what I thought as as well... just wanted to have it confirmed.

So in order to test this I need to fire up some VM's that are running an Windows OS.

Thanks!

Yes. Linux is under development but I have no info when it is going to be started to be supported.
