Hello,
I need a Load Balancer to balance traffic to ressources outside vsphere/nsx-t. The ressources are directly connected to a switching fabric in a vlan accessible from vsphere/nsx-t. Since we only have nsx-l standard load balancer (no Avi, F5 or other standalone vendor) I am wondering if it is possible. In the vmware design guide https://nsx.techzone.vmware.com/resource/nsx-t-reference-design-guide-3-0#_Toc506183684 there is a one armed load balancer vlan backed mentioned
and I am wondering if that will suite my case. Maybe somebody in the community has a similar case where the server pool ressources are outside the vsphere/nsx infrastructure.
Thanks in advance
Michael
Hi,
So when configuring server pools you must specify the IP address of the members.. or names.
Considering that, you would have to think about traffic path and if that would be suitable for your environment. You would have hair-pinning of traffic, ie client > vip > back to physical > then back again.
Whilst yes it could work, is it the best solution for your needs? Will you be able to bring the servers into NSX?
Hi Shashank Mohan,
first of all thanks that you took your time to answer my question. If it is the best solution? I don't think so, but since we have no external load balancer and we have no chance to get the appliances into nsx (because they no standard server but cloudian storage appliances) I like to build a small poc and check if it is possible.
Best regards
Michael
No problems, well as long as you meet the connectivity requirements I don't see an issue with it working for a POC.
