NSX Routing problem

Hi

I am new in NSX, and I am trying to build the NSX environment in lab.

Attached is the topology of the NSX lab. I have one Edge Router and one Logical Router, and trying to bridge these two using a logical switch.

At this moment, the client (10.1.1.83) can ping the gateway IP 10.1.1.3 owned by Edge Router, and VMs can ping the gateway IP 10.2.1.1 owned by Logical Router. However, the VM cannot be ping the IP 10.1.1.83.

Since I am not using OSPF in lab, how I can make it accessible?

Since you are not using OSPF use static route in both Edge & DLR.

In Edge add static route for network 10.2.1.0/24 as next hop as 172.0.0.11

In DLR add static route for network 10.1.1.0/24 as next hop as 172.0.0.12

How did you configure routing? Does the client have a (default) route to the VM subnet? Did you configure routing between the Edge and Logical Routers?

You don't necessarily need OSPF or BGP to do routing as you can just use static routes. However you will need to configure something, or it won't work.

another question. from client, I can ping the IP of VM1 and VM2 now, I am wondering whether I can add a DNAT rules such that what ever a tcp traffics to VM1 will now forward to VM2?

You need to configure the destination NAT on Edge Gateway to achieve this.

The above example explains how the DNAT works & how to configure it.
