Hi,
Has anyone tested using NSX OSPF routing in conjunction with EIGRP and route redistribution in this scenario?
My main routing protocol is cisco EIGRP but I use NSX at the virtualization core and I want to know if these work well together (mainly I mean the redistribution is supported by NSX or not and does this senario works well or not)
Thanks
From a peering perspective NSX supports BGP and OSPF , so as long as we have a upstream device which is establishing routing with one of those protocols we are certainly good and those upstream devices can redistribute learnt EIGRP. routes to NSX tenants . Having different protocol for same tenants makes troubleshooting tedious and convergence can also differ End-End based on the failure scenarios. So better test your use case and mark the caveats.
Thanks but I cannot change the whole network running EIGRP to OSPF or BGP
If redistribute works on NSX smoothly and flawlessly (which is my main question) I go for redistribute ..
any experience in this regard?
Have not implemented the same , but redistribute should work flawlessly and NSX will treat it as BGP/OSPF routes based on the protocol decision.
NSX does not support EIGRP redistribution since NSX doesn't support EIGRP, but you can do this in a physical switch(or router) which peers with Edge Service Gateway.
The switch(router) must running both OSPF and EIGRP.
As simple as this
