I have a two host vSphere Enterprise v5.5 setup and am about like to deploy NSX.
To operate one host in "active" and the other in "standby" do I need to license NSX on both hosts?
Thank You,
Eric
Hi - in the context of NSX im not sure i fully understand what you mean by active/standby, but regardless - NSX is licensed per-vm not per host.
VMware NSX is available with either a perpetual or term license. perpetual license are per CPU, and term licenses are per virtual machine per month.
there is nothing like active/standby for the ESXi host when you deploy NSX but you do have active/standby mode available for NSX edges
Are perpetual per-proc licenses generally available? my understanding is that they are a restricted SKU reserved for select partners only.
yes - you can order perpetual per - proc licenses. They are generally available.
Hi all,
for nsx do we need at least vsphereenterprise plus licence?
Hello, yes you need Enterprise Plus as this allows you to run the vSphere VDS switch which is a pre-req for NSX.
