NSX Certification

IM interested in the NSX certification, but the hurdle is the mandatory training, particularly its $4k price. Is there a way to reduce the cost of this training or bypass it altogether? I have the CCNA Security but apparently they only take route and switch as a way to bypass the training. This is very disappointing because i was quite excited for this cert track, but this expensive mandatory class training seems quite prohibitive for the average person.

CCNA Security is not one of the "skip training" certifications. You either need to be VCP certified in another area or have a CCNA Datacenter, CCNA R&S or CCNP Datacenter, CCNP R&S (the Cisco certs "skip" runs till 25 Feb 2015).

So either you would need to follow the training or you could go for one of the other CCNA certs to be eligible for directly taking the exam.

Unless I'm missing something, to get CCNA Security, you must have one of the following:

- CCENT

- CCNA Routing and Switching

- Any CCIE

Do you have CCENT or CCNA R&S ? If you have CCNA R&S you're eligible to take VCP-NV until February 28, 2015 without class requirements.

CCENT is the pre-req for the CCNA Security. The old cert path required what is now considered the CCNA R&S before a specialty path.

Since the Cisco waiver period is only until February, my next question is can a VCP be attained without a class, so I could go that route of waiving the NSX training expense, or has VMWare created a training "pay wall" no matter what route you go?
