Hi,
Is there any good tool for displaying / figuring out the differences between saved DFW configurations?
I know that you can export the configs and do your own XML diff. Problem then is that you have to query for all the vCenter objects that are referenced.
I can load the saved configuration and look at it, but its very easy to miss some differences.
I envision something similar to loading the configurations side by side, and visually see added and removed rules in different colors.
When i have some spare moments, i will build something that will do the xml diff and then query the NSX manager and my vCenter for the referenced objects.
That could take some time, and i hate to reinvent the wheel.
Thanks
Oskar
It may be possible to export dFW configurations to Excel with PowerNSX, so it may be easier to compare 2 Excel sheets as sections are seperated like the default dFW rule on NSX Manager:

Excel Compare Function can be used for showing difference in different colors:
had any one tried to use Notepad++ for the configuration diff
If any one have used it let me your feedback.
NSX DFW2Excel is now part of the NSX-PowerOps project: www.nsx-powerops.com
