Might be a stupid question, but I could not find a straight answer in the documentation.
If I have a 2 node edge cluster hosting an active/active T0 gateway, can the 2 edge nodes run on the same ESXi host without any problems to traffic flow (lets say in a scenario where one ESXi host dies), or should we make sure the edge nodes never run on the same host (anti-affinity)? We would like the edge nodes to run in a dedicated cluster in vcenter, and not run them on hosts with other workloads. Scenario here is a smallish remote site.
If you wish to avoid a single point of failure, the recommended placement is to add AF rules. Yes, you can host edges in dedicated clusters as well.
Thanks for the reply.
If I understand your answer the edge nodes in an edge cluster can run on the same ESXi host while hosting a A/A T0 gateway?
AF rules are recommended according to the documentation, but it is not clear if it was a problem if the nodes should happen to run on the same ESXi host.
Yes, you are right
