Hello Team,

We are doing a migration from VCF3.x to VCF4.x (NSX-V to NSX-T), we are following below steps for the same. Could someone please assist if we are missing anything or its look good.

- Configure VM replication using HCX

- Migrate VM using HCX (Bulk Migration)

- Once we migrate all VMs from a logical switch then we disconnect that LS from DLR

- Unextend the network, where it connect respective Logical segment to T1 gateway and after 8-10 rto, VMs starts communicating.

- Follow the same process for remaining workloads.

Anything else needs to be done from our end,  Please assist.

Thank you in advance

Few points you may want to include as part of your prep-work if not already -

  • You are advertising connected segments from T1 to T0
  • You are redistributing routes being learned from T1 into BGP/OSPF
  • Any Route filters being used on Physical router end for BGP, if yes then corresponding subnets should be allowed
  • Any firewall rules in use at source side
  • Any Edge services in use such as NAT, LB etc. at source side

Please note this is not an exhaustive list and sharing from my past experience.

From HCX side leaving NSX part behind, its pretty simple which you already covered - Extend, Migrate, Unextend.

Hope this helps.
