Openstack services not enabled for autostart

Hi,

With a VIO 4.0 installed and successfully working, I tried to restat a controller. After the reboot, I noticed that openstack services are started automatically (heat, nova, horizon,...).

I can start them manually or with the command viocli services start.

Do you know  if this is an expected behaviour ?

Hi Chewy85500,

in which way did you try restarting the controller? restarting the VM? restarting the service from VIO plugin?

P.S.

It is always recommended restart services from Web vSphere client VIO plugin

Cheers,

Domenico

Hello Domenico,

I shut the VM from vSphere (PowerOff) to test the high availibility and after, start again the VM.

Ok!

for my understanding, it should be expected, after restarting one of the two controllers (where these services reside)...

Services have been restarted in order to be synced back, between the 2 controllers and the load balancer.

Cheers,

Domenico

yes this is expected behavior.  you have to use the viocli command to start it back up.  Its this way because we can ensure that dependent services have been started.

But in case of an ESXi failure, if vsphere HA restart a controller, the services will not be started. This could be an issue ?

That would require manual intervention.
