Announcement: vSphere Foundations is no longer a requirement for a number of certification tracks

It might have gotten less attention as the new VCTA certification level was claiming the spotlight, hence this announcement to our institutions.

Did you know that the vSphere foundations certification is no longer a requirement to achieve the VCP-DCV level IF you are taking the vSphere 7.X exams?

Here is a blog that explains it in detail: https://blogs.vmware.com/vmware-japan/2020/09/vcpnew2020wof_en.html

It means that for the VCP-DCV certification track with vSphere version 6.7 the steps are as follows:

  1. Follow vSphere 6.7 ICM
  2. Take the vSphere 6.7 Foundations exam
  3. Pass the exam and obtain the vSphere Foundations certification
  4. Follow vSphere 6.7 O&S
  5. Take the Professional VMware vSphere 6.7 Certification exam
  6. Pass the exam and obtain the VCP-DCV 2020 certification

So the vSphere Foundation is STILL a requirement

For the VCP-DCV certification track with vSphere version 7.X the steps are as follows:

  1. Follow vSphere 7.X ICM
  2. Follow vSphere 7.X O&S
  3. Take the Professional VMware vSphere 7.x Certification exam
  4. Pass the exam and obtain the VCP-DCV 2020 certification

Here the vSphere Foundations is no longer a requirement
