[Question] How to set virtual machine running Windows 95/98 with 256 colors

[Question] How to set virtual machine running Windows 95/98 with 256 colors

Hi!

I have 3 virtual machines: Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows 98.

I, by chance, downloaded an atlas program that seems to require 256 colors or more.

The problem is, the aforementioned virtual machines all support up to only 16 colors.

Is there a way to change the 16 available into 256 colors?

Thanks in advance!

I am using VMware Fusion Professional Version 10.1.6

For Windows 95 and 98, after you install VMware Tools in the Windows guest OS, choose Start > Control Panel, then choose Displays, choose the Settings tab, and choose under Color palette the color depth you would like to use.  Without VMware Tools, only 16-color mode will be available.  With VMware Tools installed, it should be possible to choose 256 Color or True Color (32-bit) color depths.

I think Windows 3.1 will only be able to use 16-color mode in a VM, but I am not entirely certain...

Hope this helps!
