Hi everybody.
I have successfully installed and configured virtual machine (vmware workstation 7) with active directory on my previous computer (win 7)
now i import this machine to vmware fusion 4, running fine, but network settings now wrong...
on vmvare workstation it was static ip address like 192.168.0.100, mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.0.1, preferred dns 192.168.0.100 (or localhost, 127.0.0.1)
after import to vmware fusion 4, now ip address assigned dynamicaly (dhcp)...
i try before first run change network settings on virtual machine on vmware fusion 4 to bridged, to host only... same result...
i don't try change network settings on running machine (fusion) like vmware workstation network settings... anyway it's wrong...
any ideas how to fix it?
What explicitly and specifically do you mean by "import" the VM? The reason I'm asking is one does not need to "Import" a VM from VMware Workstation to VMware Fusion and simply copy it from one location to another.
Setting a Static IP Address is done (can be done) at the Guest OS Level within its Networking Control Panel regardless of what type of Network Adapter one has assigned to the Guest. Of course it needs to be in the proper Subnet as assigned by VMware Fusion for the target adapter type and cannot conflict with the DHCP IP Address Pool or other VMware Fusion default assigned IP Addresses,
As far as the Virtual Network Editor that is included in VMware Workstation it does not exist for VMware Fusion in spite of the fact that Users have been requisition it for the very beginning over five years ago! Anyway if you need to change the IP Address assigned to VMnet0, VMnet1 or VMnet8 and or add additional VMnets, this has been covered ad nauseum in this forum so searching it or Google should yield directions.
Otherwise... To help figure out what is what the best way to provide comprehensive diagnostic information is to use the "Collect Support Information" command from the VMware Fusion (menu bar) > Help > Collect Support Information and then attach the .tgz file it created on your Desktop to a reply post.
thanks for reply WoodyZ
i'm currently away from computer with fusion, n don't remember how exactly options named...
something like "create new machine" > "use existing machine" > provide path to .vmdk...
i have already point what virtual machine with domain controller have static ip address, but after run into vmware fusion, network adapter setted up to dhcp, not assigned as static ip address, for example when i'm running on vmware workstation...
was:
win7, vmware workstation 7, virtual machine (windows 2003/sp2) with static ip address 192.168.0.100, mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.0.1, preferred dns 192.168.0.100
now:
MPB, vmware fusion 4, now machine (copied from win7) shown WITHOUT (but must be) static ip address, set as DHCP assigned,
and "ipconfig /all" in running DC machine show ip address 172.16.0.XXX, it's alright because i have use router with DHCP (172.16.0.1), anyway that's too strange, because when i'm set virtual machine network settings in vmware fusion like host only...
