vmware-tools-config stops: Guest filesystem driver: failed

Hi,

I try to call vmare-tools-config.pl in SuSE 10.2 but it exits saying:

Stopping VMware Tools services in the virtual machine:

Guest operating system daemon: done

Blocking file system: done

Unmounting HGFS shares: done

Guest filesystem driver: failed

Guest memory manager: done

Making sure services for VMware Tools are stopped.

What can I do about this? I had a system crash due to heavy swapping. Maybe this is related ...

Thanks

Stefan

I don't know why, but that is a consistent problem with all of my OpenSUSE guests, VMWare Workstation 5.5 and 6.0.2. (I have not tried OpenSUSE with VMWare Workstation 6.5 - all of my WS6.5's run Red Hat 5.2 derivatives.)

Anyway, the way I get around it is to disable the shared folders (host-level VMWare menu, Settings, Options, Shared Folders > Always Disabled) and reboot the guest. That seems to release the process and allows vmware-tools-config.pl to proceed.
