vmware fusion 4 not creating /dev/vmnet*

noticed that on Mac Lion, Vmware Fusion 4 is not creating the device nodes just like Vmware Worstation on a linux platform.  It however creates the pid files and the virtual interface visible via ifconfig -a vmnet...when i run this command:

sudo ./vmnet-netifup -s 6 -d /var/run/vmnet-netifup-vmnet99.pid /dev/vmnet99 vmnet99

Non creation of device node is breaking other apps which relies on communicating with VM's via the /dev/vmnet* files.  Please help me understand why this is the case in MAC OS ? or are the dev files for the virtual interfaces created some other location ?  Thanks

REGARDS,

-Ravi
