"Unable to set driver parameters" when I try to resume my VMs

On 10.11.6.  I tried several VMs, Windows 7, Mac OS X, all give the same error.

After hitting OK, I see

"Failed to initialize monitor device."

I'm dead in the water until this is fixed.

What version of Fusion is this?

Have you tried to reboot your Mac?

8.5.0.  Sorry.  Just updated.  Worked before the update.  Failed after.

ok, still try to reboot.

If that doesn't help...

try:

uninstall VMware Fusion

reboot

install VMware Fusion

Reboot worked.  Highly annoying.  I used a Mac because it's not Windows, so I don't have to reboot all the damn time.  Grumble, grumble.

LOL, I hear you.

FWIW, it's a pretty rare issue you bumped into, normally you can just reinstall Fusion without all the rebooting.

I had the same issue after upgrading to Fusion 8.5.0.  The reboot resolved it for me as well.  Thanks!

Restart sometimes doesn't resolve the issue for me.

The issue happens when my mac os x crashes while the VM is running.

The solution for the issue is:

cd /dev

sudo rm vmmon

Just to help if anyone suffering same
