network adapter issue with Windows 10 and Fusion

I cannot get my network adapter to work since I upgraded my VM to Windows 10.  It shows as enabled and OK in Windows Device Manager but disabled and cannot be enabled in Network Connections. This happened with Fusion 7 and continues since I upgraded to Fusion 8.  I've reinstalled VMware tools, removed the adapter and reinstalled in Windows, removed the adapter and reinstalled in Fusion Virtual Machine settings.  It happens both in "Share with my Mac" mode and Automatic bridging. Please advise.  Thanks.

As noted in another thread:  I had to roll back to Windows 7, find and uninstall a VPN client, re-upgrade to Windows 10.  Networking then functioned properly.
