need help connecting windows os in fusion 1.1 to local peer-to-peer network

i have a network set up at my office for file and print sharing. leopard has no problem communicating with other computers, but windows xp pro in fusion cannot see the network. the ip address on the network is in the 192.168.1.x range, but when i run ipconfig in xp on the VM, i get an ip address in the 172.16.177.x range. how do i fix this?

Try switching the networking type to Bridged, then reacquiring a DHCP lease (e.g. by disabling/enabling the guest's network or by restarting the guest).
